St. Matthew's Mission Statement
THE SHORT VERSION OF WHAT WE BELIEVE
St. Matthew's Church is a Christ centered church, with a strong commitment to the Bible and the orthodox beliefs of the Anglican communion as they have been formulated by the Apostolic Councils of the past. We boldly proclaim Christ as Lord, the Bible as the Word of God, and the evangelism of new believers as the central mission of the church. We are committed to an inclusive vision for church membership, with parishioners coming from Anglo, Hispanic, and Caribbean backgrounds. What binds us together is our common discipleship as followers of Jesus Christ. Families are especially important, and we are firmly committed to strengthening them and transmitting our faith to our children and succeeding generations that will follow us.
Our goals are to develop a deeper fellowship with God and one another, and to manifest this new relationship in a Christian family. Family responsibilities require us to reach out to others, to invite those outside of the family to share in our faith and our Christian hospitality. Our aspirations are to build a family that is functionally complete, meeting the diverse needs of our congregation and the larger community within which St. Matthew's operates.
As Christians, we believe that God has a specific purpose for this Church. We are prepared to become disciples, willingly accepting the obligations of discipleship, and permitting Christ to guide our efforts according to His plan for St. Matthew's.
