Passover Seder: We will share the same tradition that Jesus shared with his disciples on the night he instituted the sacrament of the Eucharist before his arrest and trial. The Passover Seder is a symbolic reenactment of the liberation of the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt under the leadership of Moses. It is the most important festival in the Jewish faith. That evening, we will enjoy foods that are part of this important spiritual experience. Donation: $7 per person
Please RSVP with the church office at 305-665-7333 if you plan to attend.
The Seder will be followed by the proper liturgy for Maundy Thursday at 8 p.m..
Tenebrae is a service of lights that are extinguished one by one, following scripture readings. The service is designed to give the worshipper a sense of what Jesus felt as he was dying and the desolation of the disciples who were scattered. It is the final service before the Easter morning celebration.
This year's Lenten Series began on Wednesday, March 13th. We continue to view and discuss the National Geographic series, "Food, Science and the Human Body".
The Bible teaches that the body is a "temple for the Holy Spirit" (I Cor. 6:19) and the care of our physical bodies is a spiritual issue as it is a physical issue. We will learn more about how a healthy spiritual life is related to the food we eat! Our evening will begin at 6:00pm with a potluck dinner, followed by the class and discussion.
